well, i wouldn't say i'm exactly procrastinating... i've only painted 5 rooms in the last month- about 1000 square feet, not including the actual floors i painted in the girls' rooms. but i like the idea of announcing a project & being committed to doing it or risk public shame! so here goes- my next room to complete work on will be:
the dining room!
the floors have already been refinished- no more sponge paint, thank goodness. and the plaster has been repaired, so no more water damage. what's left? priming the new dry wall & plaster, choosing a paint color and painting the walls, change the finish on the light fixture, decide what to do about the ceiling... plenty left to do!
i'm having the hardest time deciding on a color- do i want it to flow from the kitchen color (Topsail) since the rooms are open to each other? do i want it to coordinate with the living room (White Hyacinth)? do i want it to show off the color in my china (cobalt blue & white)? and am i going to keep the ceiling painted the same? lots of decisions to make!
i'd love some suggestions- please!! : )
so i'm linking this post to The Inspired Room's Procrastinator's Party!
happy tuesday!

Hi, Rachel! :) Thanks for the visit. I hope you'll link up to the Decorating Dilemmas party tonight or tomorrow if you have a chance. I've always read that Dining rooms are one of those rooms you can really go all out with, and choose a color you love. I'm one of those girls who likes to try to coordinate with other rooms....I'll have to see what the other rooms look like....
Hi, I linked in from The Inspired Room. I feel your painting pain.. I repainted my entire house interior when we moved in last year. The one thing I wish I had known is to use matte paint to conceal wall flaws.
I love the deep teal of your walls!! It's intense and historical--and what beautiful details in the architecture of your home! Are you worried about being too matchy-matchy with the fireplace blue-green? It's a lovely color.. why not keep it? If you HAVE to change it, look at the historical color chips from Miller or Benjamin Moore.
All you have to do get an instant update is switch out the light fixture.
I love a deep wedgewood blue room. I say keep it blue! Gorgeous room and I look forward to seeing what you do with it!

Hi Rachel, that ceiling medallion is fabulous and those pocket doors!I wish I could get to the painting in my house, but the stripping really put a stall on my motivation. I can't believe how much you have done in such a short time! I am going to visit often, for motivation of course.
I looked at some of your older posts - I LOVE your house!! I really like that dark blue that is in your dining room right now. Ellen's suggestion of looking at the historical color paint chips is a good idea, too! Can't wait to see what you do!
I love that room! I could just stare at all the beautiful moldings and trims in you house for hours! Amazing!
Good luck finishing up and I can't wait to see the final result!
Beautiful house! Love the wooden pocket doors and beautiful floors. and the fireplace. Those old victorians (I am assuming the rest of the house is victorian based on this room) typically have dark colored walls - BUT - I could only stomach that for a little while. I feel your painting pain -I am repainting my red room, this week. Good luck with colors! Flow sounds good. I am using historical colors from Valspar (Lowe's).
